Link
to BC Ferries (to take a ferrie to the island) This additional link provides information on public transport options from Vancouver International Airport to B.C. Ferries at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. Use their Trip Planner to get from the airport to the ferry terminal, or explore the links to other public transport providers. Driving -When you come to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry go to Gate #7 on the far right. You don't need to wait in the Nanaimo lineup if there is one, just tell the traffic controllers that you are going to Bowen. It helps to get to the dock about half an hour before sailing time to make sure you get a place. Once you are on Bowen, drive straight up the hill through the town and just keep going on the main road (Grafton Road). There are intersections that you will go through but you stay on the main road that leads to Tunstall Bay. The road winds along the valley floor. After about 4 km you pass a building supply yard (the Irly) on your left and then a garden center on your right. Just after the garden center the road turns 90 degrees to the left and then about 30 meters further along the main road takes a 90-degree turn to the right. (Do not go off on Cowan Road, the gate is closed at the top of the hill.) Continue on the main road (now Adams Road), and take the next left, sign posted "Cowan Point Road, Fairweather". This is Sunset Rd. You will go up a hill and out of the valley. You will pass a small lake (Josephine Lake) on your left and immediately after the lake, on the down slope of the steep hill, you will turn left onto Salal Road. Go right to the end of Salal road, past the Restricted Road sign, into the trees, and then, just before the gate turn right up our little hill and then right again up our drive way. Look for the 511 L'Abri sign.
