Some dates to mark on your calendar as we begin another lecture series at L’Abri in a few weeks. We hope you can join us for these Friday evening lectures. Friends and friends of friends are welcome. All lectures begin at 7:30PM followed by a Q&A and a time of fellowship and refreshments.
On Oct 30, Dr Steven Keillor who received his Ph. D. in American History from U of Minnesota, and who presently is an adjunct Assistant Professor of history at Bethel University in St Paul, will resurrect an old spoof that challenges David Hume’s critique of miracles, “Does a 200-Year-Old Spoof of David Hume’s Critique of Miracles Have Fresh Relevance Today?”
Then on Nov 6, Dr Keith Jones, Associate Professor in the Department of English and Literature at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota will introduce us to one of the greatest playwrights in the English language, William Shakespeare, but with a theological twist. Dr Jones received his Ph.D. in Renaissance English Literature from Saint Louis University in Missouri. His lecture is entitled “Shakespearean Calvinism: Depravity, Election, Repentance, and Redemption in the Plays of Shakespeare.”
Finally, on Nov 13, Dr Michael Andres, who is the chair of religion and Associate Professor of Religion at Northwestern College in Iowa Ph.D., will address the theme “Whole Gospel, Whole Witness, Whole Communities.” Dr Andres received his Ph.D. in the philosophy of religion from Kings College, University of London.
