Swedish L'Abri is based in the old seaside resort of Molle at the beautiful Kullaberg nature reserve in the south of Sweden. Swedish L'Abri was begun in 1981 by Per Staffan and Lisa Johansson. They had previously worked for five years with Dr. and Mrs. Schaeffer in Switzerland. Per Stafffan continues to be the director of the Swedish branch. The heart of the residential work of Swedish L'Abri is the summer term with regular lectures, tutorial studies amongst an international student population. Run by one family and additional workers, it can take up to 20 students, of which ten can stay in the L'Abri house and the rest in rented rooms in the village. A city work is run through the rest of the year in the university town of Lund in the south of Sweden. Swedish L'Abri also arranges conferences and is a voice on the public arena. L'Abri material is available in English as well as Swedish and all nationalities are welcome. Per Staffan's search for truth originally led him to L'Abri in 1970. Today his motivation is to help others in their quest for reasonable answers to questions of life and the issues of culture. He is an international speaker and visiting lecturer at conferences, universities and government convocations, addressing current issues in the public debate. Since 1990, a former inn has taken on new life as the home of Swedish L'Abri. The house offers resources for study and recreation through a book and tape library, guest rooms and garden. The central thrust of the L'Abri teaching is that Christianity is true, not just a way of life, not one more religious option or one more spiritual experience. From this central point come two important emphases. First, questions are to be taken seriously and discussed honestly. As Christianity can stand on its own intellectually and be tested, it is important to think things through and find satisfactory answers. Secondly, Christianity is relevant to all of life and culture. As a world view it therefore has implications for the arts, the sciences, politics, economics, and psychology and the Christian mind touches all areas of life. Read
