L'Abri today
Each branch of L’Abri holds the same core values. But you will also find something different at each branch depending on location, culture, and the individual workers and their families who make up the branch. The students who come also add a lot of variety to the experience of community life at L’Abri.
Each branch is staffed by L’Abri families or single people, who provide the shelter for those who come to stay. A typical day is divided into half a day of study and half a day of helping with the practical tasks of living together – cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. Meals often involve discussions centered on a topic raised by a guest or worker. On a few evenings each week the workers may give a lecture, show a film or lead a Bible study. All of these provide the opportunity to learn through questions and discussion.
We welcome people to come no matter the length of time they can stay with us; some come for just a day, others for a whole term. There are no set courses of study at L’Abri. Each guest is assigned one of the workers as their tutor, who will meet with them each week to help guide their study time. Each branch has an extensive book and audio lecture library.
There are no prerequisites for attending L’Abri. Some guests are Christians and some are not. While most people who come are single, we also have some accommodation for couples and families.
Term dates, daily rates, and other details vary between individual branches of L’Abri, so it is essential to contact the local branch to make reservations or ask questions about your stay. You can find links to each branch on this site.
